Bear Box
Day 16: Jackson Hole, MT: 104m/167km
We finished packing up our tent, sleeping bag, and mat; and were getting our gloves, jackets, and helmets on, only to realize that we hadn't had breakfast yet. Whoops. We decided to start on the road and make a stop at Carl's Jr./Hardee's. Throughout the rally we had heard people complain about all of the construction in Idaho, we were lucky enough to never run in to any of it. We passed some other Beemer riders through Idaho and Montana. We managed to catch some drizzling rain after the day had warmed up.
We managed to find Opa's campground in the National Park, and found a nice lot with a view of the mountains-had it not been cloudy and dreary. We begin to unpack our gear and start to set up and of course, it starts to rain. With our luck, after the tent is set up, the rain stops. It almost made me miss the dry heat of SLC that would have dried this up in no time. I spent time unpacking both bikes and sidecars to move everything into the bear boxes. What a mess!
We settled on granola bars for dinner and turned in early. We plan to get up early and race to Yellowstone in the hopes of timing it perfectly to catch Old Faithful.
Opa thinks we will be in Canada by Wednesday and Alaska in the window between Friday-Monday!
