Packing List & Last Minute Details
My grandfather spent about 3 weeks looking for:
- a rain suit
- some blue jeans
- sports bras
- boots for riding in the rain
- hooded, long sleeved shirts to block the sun
- gloves (rain, cold, compression, and a few to block the sun)
- a few jackets
- long johns.
Luckily, I live in a town that has a Bass Pro with Cabela's about 5 minutes away; not to mention an Academy Sports and Gander Mountain. We also have Rock Creek Outfitters (with 6 total locations. 5 within a 10 mile diameter), it's a local company that is similar to REI. We spent so many days running back and forth, hunting for everything. We managed to get everything in time to pack the rig and rearrange everything a few times.
**Just a heads-up, Frogg Toggs has seriously stepped their game up.
For any female riders or riders searching for gear that may read this; I am 5'4" with a heeled boot. My measurements are 40-29-43 (chest-waist-hip) and I have a L pant (sits just above natural waist), XL jacket (I prefer larger jackets). The pants have an elastic drawstring and a velcro tab around the ankles to help tighten them around the boot. The XL jacket has a drawstring that you can tighten through the pockets to hold the jacket down over my hips and thighs, it also has velcro tabs around the wrist. The jacket has a hood, I pull the hood up about halfway up the back of my head and put the helmet back on. The seams are sealed on both. The jacket also has sealed zippers. I totally recommend it as rain suit even if you just want a backup/spare or if you're just looking for a more frugal option. They had a TON of color options (black, red, pink, blues, greens, yellow, grey, white) at Bass Pro and I think I paid $100-$120 for the whole suit!
I gathered all of my gear from my condo, crammed it into the largest suitcase that I have, and still had to carry extra bags to make sure that I had everything and then some. I'd rather overpack on some essentials. Made it to my grandparent's house to start organizing all of my laundry into the sidecar trunk. Here is my laundry-list, with doing laundry every six days.

- 3 blue jeans (wearing one with two in the trunk)
- 6 tank tops
- 7 shirts (3 with a hood and one was an infrared thermal)
- 7 pairs of socks
- 12 pairs of underwear
- 4 sports bras and a regular bra
- a one-piece swimsuit
- 2 compression leggings and a pair of yoga pants to wear around camp
- a light pullover/shrug to wear around camp
- 2 long john pants
- Danner gore-tex boots, converse, birkenstocks, and a pair of shower shoes
- 4 "sun hoods" that my grandmother made for me (similar to a balaclava)
- 650 down vest
- 2 down jackets: 500 and 750
- Under Armor Storm 2 infrared lined jacket

Jackets and jeans were in separate bags. Long johns were in a bag. Swimsuit and hoods were in a bag together. Bras went in one bag, underwear in another. I had "day bags" which had socks, a tank top, and a shirt.
And, being a bit of a "girly-girl" I had a doubled ziplock bag with a few bottles of nail polish (clear, 2 colors, and colors that match the bikes), a bag for acetone. I had a bag for tools; cuticle pusher, cuticle scissors, nail clippers, tweezers, comedone extractor (came in handy after a splinter), and nail files. People have joked about me carrying them and guess who ends up asking to borrow something...
